Four militants, including a senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, were killed in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. The explosion occurred in a remote border area, dealing a significant setback to the militant organization's activities in the region.
The identity of the slain LeT commander has not been officially disclosed, though security officials described him as an influential figure within the outfit's command structure. The other three militants killed in the blast have also not been identified by authorities.
The incident comes as Indian security forces maintain heightened vigilance along the LoC following recurring infiltration attempts by Pakistan-based militant groups. The anti-terrorism operations have intensified in recent months in response to cross-border militant activity.
The death of a senior LeT commander is expected to disrupt the group's operational planning in Kashmir. The LeT, designated as a terrorist organization by India, the United States, and the United Nations, has been held responsible for multiple terror attacks in India, including the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
