The Vietnam News Agency and Yonhap have committed to intensifying coordination on media and communications activities as Vietnam and South Korea prepare to mark three-and-a-half decades of diplomatic ties in 2025. A senior South Korean parliamentary official has praised the role played by both agencies in fostering bilateral relations between the two nations.
The two news organizations have outlined plans for expanded cooperation including regular information exchanges, delegation visits, and enhanced support for resident correspondents operating in each country. Both agencies have also agreed to collaborate on combating misinformation and fake news, a growing concern in the digital media landscape across Asia.
The agreement reflects broader efforts by Hanoi and Seoul to deepen ties across multiple sectors. In recent months, the two nations have expanded cooperation in economic development, parliamentary affairs, and artificial intelligence technologies, signaling a commitment to strengthening partnership beyond traditional diplomatic channels.
The collaboration between Vietnam's state news agency and Yonhap underscores the importance of media institutions in building mutual understanding and supporting government-to-government relations. Technology cooperation initiatives are also expected to enhance the capacity of both news organizations to serve their audiences more effectively.
