Serian grapples with hazardous air quality amid nationwide pollution concerns

Serian remains one of the most severely affected areas in Malaysia, maintaining very unhealthy air quality readings as of the latest assessment. The situation highlights ongoing air pollution challenges in the region despite some improvement elsewhere across the country.

The Air Pollutant Index (API) data reveals a mixed picture nationally. Fifty areas throughout Malaysia are currently recording moderate API readings, indicating acceptable air quality in these zones. However, the concentration of poor air quality in specific areas like Serian underscores the uneven distribution of pollution across different regions.

Only seven areas nationwide have achieved good air quality status, suggesting that the majority of monitored locations remain affected by elevated pollution levels. The disparity between regions points to varying environmental and geographical factors contributing to air quality fluctuations.

Authorities continue to monitor air quality conditions across the country as residents in affected areas are advised to take precautionary measures, particularly those vulnerable to respiratory issues.
