Serian records very unhealthy air as nine Sarawak zones see pollution spike

The Air Pollution Index at Serian monitoring station reached 227 on Wednesday afternoon, placing it in the 'very unhealthy' category and posing significant health risks to residents in the area. According to afternoon readings, nine other locations across Sarawak registered unhealthy air quality levels, signalling a broader deterioration in regional air conditions.

The spike in pollution across multiple zones suggests widespread atmospheric conditions contributing to the accumulation of pollutants. Serian's exceptionally high reading warrants particular concern, as air quality at that level can cause respiratory discomfort and other health complications among vulnerable populations, including children, elderly persons, and those with pre-existing respiratory conditions.
