Sarawak's disaster management committee chairman Douglas Uggah Embas emphasised that the guidance should not be construed as a lockdown, despite the restrictive nature of the recommendations. He stressed that the measures are precautionary in nature and aimed at protecting public health.
The advisory applies specifically to Serian residents and focuses on minimising outdoor exposure during periods of poor air quality. Those who must venture outside have been encouraged to use protective equipment, particularly N95 masks, to reduce their exposure to airborne pollutants.
