Service pistol, ammunition stolen in Maharashtra cop's home burglary
Police in Nanded, Maharashtra registered a case after burglars broke into a head constable's residence and made off with a service weapon, ammunition, jewellery and cash. The theft has triggered an investigation into the security breach.

Nanded Rural Police Station registered a formal case on September 19 following a burglary at the home of a head constable in the district. According to the complaint, unidentified thieves broke into the residence and made off with a service pistol and 30 live cartridges, along with jewellery and an unspecified sum of cash.
The theft of a police-issue firearm has raised concerns about security protocols and the safekeeping of weapons at the residences of law enforcement personnel. Officials have launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen items.
The case was registered under Sections 331(4) and 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deal with theft and related offences. Police said they are examining CCTV footage and conducting preliminary inquiries in the neighbourhood to gather leads on the burglars.
Authorities have urged residents in police quarters and their families to strengthen home security measures and report any suspicious activity. The recovery of the service weapon is being prioritised given the potential security implications of a firearm falling into unauthorised hands.
