Seven baby rabbits die in Seletar rescue operation; adults to be rehomed

A rescue operation in Seletar has ended tragically, with all seven baby rabbits perishing despite recovery efforts by animal welfare workers. The kits, which comprised both pre-existing juveniles and newborns, could not be saved.
Among the casualties were three kits born to an adult rabbit that was rescued during the operation. Two of these newborns were stillborn, while the third did not survive the immediate post-birth period. The circumstances surrounding the initial rescue and the animals' subsequent condition remain unclear.
However, authorities have confirmed that the adult rabbits retrieved during the operation are in a condition suitable for rehoming. The Village Farm Animals (VFA) organization is coordinating placement efforts for these animals, which will include the mother rabbit and other adults recovered in the incident.
The incident highlights the challenges faced by animal rescue teams in caring for vulnerable small mammals during emergency operations. Authorities have not released further details about how the rabbits came to require rescue or the specific causes of the kits' deaths.
