Severe weather alert issued for KL, Putrajaya and 10 states

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a severe weather warning covering Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan and ten additional states, with hazardous conditions forecast to continue until 7pm on Tuesday.

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across the affected regions, with forecasters cautioning residents to remain vigilant and avoid outdoor activities where possible. The warning encompasses a significant portion of Malaysia and underscores the need for heightened awareness during the afternoon and early evening hours.

MetMalaysia recommends that residents monitor weather updates regularly and take appropriate safety measures. Those living in flood-prone areas are advised to be especially cautious, as heavy downpours could lead to flash flooding. Motorists should exercise extreme care on roads during storms, while those working outdoors should seek shelter when thunderstorms approach.

The meteorological department has advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel during the warning period and to secure loose outdoor items that could be displaced by strong winds. Emergency services remain on standby to respond to any weather-related incidents.
