Sexual crimes remain leading offence among Singapore youth

Sexual offences continue to rank among the most serious crimes committed by young people in Singapore, with 437 cases recorded in 2025, down from 461 in the previous year, Ministry of Social and Family Development figures show.

The modest reduction of 24 cases year-on-year reflects sustained efforts by authorities and community organisations to address youth offending patterns. However, the persistently high number of sexual crimes in this age group underscores the need for continued preventive interventions and support services.

Youths aged 10 to under 21 represent a significant portion of offenders across multiple crime categories, with sexual crimes consistently appearing among the top offences committed by this demographic. The data highlights the importance of early intervention, education, and rehabilitation programmes targeted at preventing youth offending and addressing underlying risk factors.
