Shah dismisses SIR protests, predicts fourth consecutive Congress defeat

Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched a sharp attack on protests against the Agnipath scheme, contending that manufactured media spectacles and circulated falsehoods were ineffective tools for winning public confidence.

Addressing a gathering, Shah asserted that genuine public trust could only be earned through transparent governance and authentic engagement with citizens, not through orchestrated demonstrations or misinformation campaigns.

The Home Minister also turned his focus toward the opposition Congress party, predicting it would face electoral defeat for the fourth consecutive general election cycle come 2029. His remarks appeared aimed at consolidating support for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of upcoming electoral contests.

Shah's comments come amid ongoing debates surrounding the Agnipath scheme, the military recruitment initiative that has remained a subject of public discussion since its rollout. The government has maintained that the scheme serves national defence interests, while critics have raised concerns about employment and social security aspects.

The remarks underscore the intensifying political discourse in India as the nation moves toward the next general election cycle, with major political parties positioning themselves for electoral advantage.
