Shah reviews rescue operations after Delhi building collapse kills one
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has taken stock of the situation following the collapse of a five-storey residential building near Delhi University's south campus. One person has been confirmed dead and several remain trapped in the rubble as rescue operations continue.

Shah spoke with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, the city's police commissioner, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) director general following the incident at Satya Niketan on Sunday afternoon. In a statement posted on social media, Shah said he was deeply distressed by the collapse and confirmed that the local administration and NDRF are conducting intensive rescue and recovery operations in close coordination.
The 50-year-old building, which housed a boys' hostel, collapsed in a congested bylane near Delhi University's south campus. Rescue personnel have so far extracted six people from the debris, with one pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital.
Shah stated that injured individuals are receiving all necessary medical assistance and conveyed his wishes for the speedy recovery of those affected by the incident. The circumstances leading to the building's collapse have not yet been determined, though the structure's age and potential structural deficiencies are likely to be factors under investigation by authorities.
