SIA adjusts Jakarta services following Anak Krakatau volcanic activity

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has adjusted its flight schedule serving Jakarta's main airport following volcanic activity from Anak Krakatau, the active volcano located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra. One flight has been cancelled entirely, while six additional services have been retimed to accommodate operational changes resulting from the eruption.

The adjustments reflect the impact of volcanic ash and air quality concerns affecting flight operations in the region. Airlines typically modify schedules when ash clouds threaten visibility or pose risks to aircraft engines and navigation systems.

Passengers booked on affected SIA flights are advised to check the airline's Flight Status page for the most current information on their bookings, including cancellations and revised departure and arrival times. SIA recommends that travellers arrive at the airport earlier than usual and remain in contact with the airline for any further updates.

Anak Krakatau, which lies in the strategically important Sunda Strait, is one of the region's most active volcanoes. The volcano's eruptions periodically impact air traffic across Indonesia and neighbouring countries.
