SIA Engineering profit dips 1.7% amid revenue slowdown

Singapore Airlines' engineering subsidiary SIA Engineering has posted a modest decline in profitability for the first half of the financial year, with net profit slipping 1.7 per cent to $81.9 million. The result reflects broader headwinds across the aviation services sector, with the group's revenue contracting by nearly 10 per cent during the period.

Despite the weaker top-line performance, the company maintained operational efficiency and has signalled confidence in its financial position through shareholder returns. The board has declared an interim dividend of 2.5 cents per share, which will be paid on November 27.

SIA Engineering provides comprehensive maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aircraft and engines, serving a diverse customer base across the region. The revenue contraction suggests reduced aircraft utilisation or lower service demand among its client airlines during the first half, a common indicator of cyclical pressures within the aviation maintenance market.

The group's ability to sustain profitability despite the revenue decline indicates effective cost management and operational discipline during a challenging period for the aviation sector.
