SIDBI concluded its bond issuance at a coupon rate of 8.17 per cent, marginally lower than its initial target of ₹6,000 crore. The development financial institution received bids exceeding ₹13,300 crore, demonstrating substantial investor appetite for the security.
The oversubscription reflects strengthening sentiment in India's government bond market, where yields have stabilised following recent market movements. Institutional investors, including banks, insurance companies, and mutual funds, participated actively in the auction.
The five-year maturity profile aligns with SIDBI's medium-term funding requirements as it supports small and medium enterprises across the country. The coupon rate of 8.17 per cent remains competitive relative to comparable debt instruments in the current interest rate environment.
SIDBI regularly accesses capital markets to finance its lending operations to MSMEs, which form a critical segment of India's economic growth engine. The successful issuance underscores continued investor confidence in the institution's credit quality and its role in supporting India's small business ecosystem.
