Sindarov Defers World Championship Prep Until After Olympiad

Javokhir Sindarov is keeping his focus on the present rather than allowing anticipation of his world championship showdown to distract him from competitions on his immediate horizon.

The Uzbek grandmaster will face India's D Gukesh, the defending world champion, in a 14-game classical match scheduled for Geneva from November 24 to December 12. Both players are 20 years old, setting the stage for a generational clash at the sport's highest level.

However, Sindarov said his preparations for the world title bout will commence only after he completes his current competitive obligations. "Right now, I'm focusing on my next events -- the Global Chess League and the Olympiad. After those, I will start preparing for the World Championship match," he said.

Sindarov is slated to represent Fyers American Gambits in the fourth edition of the Global Chess League, which runs from September 5 to 13. He will then participate in the Chess Olympiad, scheduled for September 15 to 27 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, before shifting his focus entirely to world championship preparations.

The sequential approach reflects Sindarov's strategy to maintain peak performance across multiple tournaments rather than prematurely narrowing his concentration on a single objective months away.
