Singapore air quality deteriorates as PSI hits unhealthy levels across island
Air pollution readings have climbed into the unhealthy range for most of Singapore, with only the northern and southern regions maintaining moderate pollution levels. The spike signals a significant shift in air quality conditions affecting the city-state.

Most of Singapore is experiencing unhealthy air quality as the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) has risen sharply across the island, prompting health advisories for residents and businesses. The deterioration in air quality represents a notable departure from the moderate pollution levels typically observed in certain areas.
Currently, only Singapore's northern and southern regions are maintaining moderate PSI readings, while the central and eastern areas face elevated pollution concentrations. The unhealthy air quality poses potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.
Authorities continue to monitor atmospheric conditions closely as transboundary haze remains a recurring concern in the region during certain periods of the year. Residents are advised to check real-time PSI updates and take appropriate precautions, including the use of N95 masks when venturing outdoors and limiting prolonged outdoor activities.
The National Environment Agency provides hourly PSI updates across Singapore's five monitoring regions to help the public make informed decisions about outdoor activities and health precautions during periods of elevated air pollution.
