Singapore air quality edges upward as PSI readings retreat from unhealthy levels
Air quality has improved in two regions as 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index readings dropped out of the unhealthy band on Sunday. However, the National Environment Agency cautioned that haze risks remain elevated in areas experiencing dry weather, with transboundary pollution continuing to pose a threat.

Singapore's air quality showed modest improvement on Sunday, with the National Environment Agency reporting that 24-hour PSI readings in two regions had fallen below unhealthy thresholds. The gains reflect a shift in weather patterns, with showers providing some relief from the lingering smoke haze that has affected the island in recent days.
However, the improvement is not uniform across all regions. Areas experiencing prolonged dry spells continue to grapple with elevated pollution levels, the NEA said, limiting the scope of relief for residents in affected areas.
The agency warned that transboundary haze remains a concern, with the risk of smoke drifting from regional hotspots posing an ongoing threat to air quality. Weather patterns will play a crucial role in determining whether conditions continue to improve or worsen in the coming days, with rainfall providing the most effective near-term mitigation.
Residents in areas still experiencing unhealthy air quality have been advised to reduce outdoor activities and monitor official air quality updates. The NEA said it continues to track regional haze sources and will provide regular updates as conditions evolve.
