Singapore residents woke to cleaner air on Thursday as air quality indices across all regions improved substantially, reaching good to moderate levels throughout the day.
The National Environment Agency reported that no areas of Singapore remained in the unhealthy or hazardous categories, a marked improvement from previous readings that had affected residents and prompted health advisories.
The improvement in air quality comes as meteorological conditions have become more favourable, with wind patterns helping to disperse atmospheric pollutants that had accumulated over the region. Authorities noted that residents should continue monitoring official air quality updates, as conditions can fluctuate depending on weather patterns and transboundary pollution sources.
The better air quality is expected to provide relief to vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, and those with respiratory conditions, who are typically advised to limit outdoor activities during periods of poor air quality. Schools and workplaces that had implemented precautionary measures during previous haze episodes can resume normal outdoor activities.
