Singapore air quality may deteriorate to 'very unhealthy' levels
The National Environment Agency has warned that the Pollutant Standards Index could climb into the 'very unhealthy' range in the coming days. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures as haze conditions persist in the region.

The National Environment Agency (NEA) cautioned on Tuesday that air quality across Singapore may worsen significantly, with the Pollutant Standards Index potentially reaching the 'very unhealthy' category in the near term. The warning comes as haze conditions affecting the island intensify, driven by transboundary pollution from regional sources. The 'very unhealthy' range typically begins at a PSI reading of 201, a level at which members of the general public may experience health effects and vulnerable groups face more serious symptoms. NEA officials recommend that residents, particularly the elderly, children, and those with respiratory conditions, remain indoors and limit outdoor activities during periods of poor air quality. The agency said it continues to monitor atmospheric conditions closely and will provide regular updates on air quality forecasts. Members of the public are advised to check the NEA's website and the myENV mobile application for real-time PSI readings and health advisory information.
