Singapore air quality remains healthy despite forecast moderate PSI levels
Hourly PM2.5 readings across Singapore stayed within normal ranges on Tuesday, though forecasters expect the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index to climb into the moderate band between 51 and 80.

Air quality monitoring stations across Singapore recorded healthy PM2.5 levels throughout the day, with hourly measurements remaining well within acceptable parameters islandwide. The fine particulate matter readings, which measure particles smaller than 2.5 micrometers, stayed at levels considered safe for the general population.
Despite the favourable hourly readings, the National Environment Agency forecast the 24-hour PSI to enter the moderate range, with levels expected between 51 and 80 on Tuesday. The PSI, which aggregates multiple pollutants including PM2.5, PM10, nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, and ozone, serves as Singapore's primary air quality indicator.
A PSI reading in the 51-80 range is classified as moderate, meaning air quality is acceptable for most residents. However, individuals with respiratory conditions or elderly persons may experience minor symptoms during prolonged outdoor exposure at these levels. The general population faces no significant health concerns at moderate PSI ratings.
Monitoring across Singapore's multiple air quality stations showed consistent readings, indicating relatively uniform air quality distribution throughout the island. Authorities continue regular surveillance of atmospheric conditions to track any significant changes.
