Singapore air quality returns to normal as haze episode subsides

Air quality readings across Singapore have normalised following a transient episode of elevated pollution, with PM2.5 concentrations returning to baseline levels across all monitoring stations.

The western part of the island experienced a temporary elevation in fine particulate matter earlier, pushing readings into the elevated band before conditions stabilised. The improvement represents a return to more typical air quality patterns for the island.

The National Environment Agency forecasts the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index to remain within the moderate range of 51 to 70 on Sunday, indicating acceptable air quality for the general population. The index measures concentrations of key pollutants including nitrogen dioxide, sulphur dioxide, ozone, carbon monoxide and fine particulate matter.

While moderate air quality poses minimal health risks for most residents, the agency continues to monitor atmospheric conditions and provides real-time updates via its air quality information system. Residents are advised to check official channels for any further developments in air quality conditions.
