Singapore authorities warn of flash flood risk in Pasir Panjang

The Public Utilities Board (PUB) has issued a precautionary advisory for the Pasir Panjang district, urging the public to steer clear of the area amid heightened flash flood risks. The warning comes as meteorological forecasts indicate heavy rain will sweep across Singapore's southern and western regions.

According to the PUB alert, the most intense rainfall is expected between 11.50am and 12.40pm, a roughly 50-minute window during which water accumulation in low-lying areas poses a significant risk. Residents in affected zones are advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during this period.

The advisory reflects PUB's commitment to public safety during severe weather events. Commuters and residents are encouraged to monitor updates from official channels and exercise caution in vulnerable areas prone to water pooling and overflow during heavy downpours.

Singapore's drainage infrastructure is regularly maintained to manage rainfall, but sudden, intense precipitation can occasionally overwhelm local systems, particularly in historically flood-prone localities. The PUB continues to monitor weather conditions closely throughout the day.
