Singapore battery recycler NEU secures US$7.6m funding round

The Singapore-based company, which specialises in recovering lithium and other critical minerals from spent lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, will deploy the fresh capital to increase production capacity and establish operations in overseas markets.

LFP batteries, commonly used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems, have emerged as a crucial focus area for battery recyclers as global demand for sustainable energy solutions accelerates. NEU's recycling process is designed to minimise environmental impact while recovering valuable materials for reuse in new battery production.

The funding round reflects growing investor interest in battery recycling technology as supply chain pressures and environmental regulations push the sector toward circular economy models. Singapore's position as a regional hub for advanced manufacturing and sustainability initiatives has bolstered the emergence of companies addressing critical material shortages.

The capital injection follows rising demand for responsible battery material sourcing amid escalating consumption of electric vehicles and renewable energy storage across Asia. NEU's expansion plans align with regional efforts to reduce dependence on virgin raw material imports and establish domestic recycling capabilities.
