Singapore Book Street to launch inaugural week-long literary festival

Singapore's publishing industry will take centre stage next month with the debut of Singapore Book Street, a week-long celebration of local literature scheduled for November 2 to 8 at VivoCity shopping mall.

The inaugural fair will feature more than 1,200 titles from Singapore-based publishers and authors, spanning English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil-language works. The event aims to connect readers with Singapore's diverse literary community and promote local publishing talent across multiple language communities.

Beyond books, the festival will offer a range of complementary activities to engage visitors. Poetry performances and storytelling sessions will punctuate the week, alongside opportunities for book enthusiasts to meet and interact with featured authors. A stamp rally will encourage visitors to explore the various booths and offerings throughout the venue.

The event represents an effort to create a dedicated platform for Singapore's publishing sector and foster greater public engagement with local literature. Organisers have positioned the fair as an annual occasion, with plans to expand the programme in future iterations.
