Singapore has captured its first-ever gold medal in the pairs category at the Boccia World Championships, with Aloysius Gan and Nurulasyiqah Mohammad Taha triumphing at the quadrennial event. The duo defeated Greece's Dimitra Papadopoulou and Grigorios Polychronidis 3-1 in the BC3 pairs final to claim the historic title. Boccia, a precision ball sport played by athletes with physical disabilities, represents one of the few sports where men and women compete together in mixed-gender categories. The BC3 classification encompasses players with severe cerebral palsy or similar conditions who compete using a ramp device for delivery.
