Singapore cuts incentive for lighter electric heavy vehicles to $15,000
The incentive for electric heavy goods vehicles weighing between 5,000kg and 7,000kg will be reduced from Sept 3, while zero-emission vehicles above 7,000kg remain eligible for the full $40,000 grant.

Singapore is reducing the cash incentive for lighter electric heavy goods vehicles, effective Sept 3, in a move to refocus support on larger zero-emission commercial trucks. The incentive for vehicles with a weight rating between 5,000kg and 7,000kg will be cut to $15,000, down from the current level. Heavy goods vehicles exceeding 7,000kg in weight rating will continue to qualify for the full $40,000 incentive, maintaining stronger support for larger electric commercial vehicles. The tiered incentive structure reflects the government's strategy to prioritize the transition of heavier commercial vehicles to zero-emission technology, where adoption has traditionally faced greater obstacles. The adjusted scheme aims to balance support across the heavy vehicle sector while concentrating resources on areas where the shift to electric power presents the greatest operational and infrastructure challenges.
