A Singapore resident allegedly made arrangements to euthanise a young goldendoodle after being unable to rehome the dog, according to animal welfare reports circulating online.
The 1.5-year-old pet was reportedly surrendered by its owner, who cited difficulty in finding someone willing to adopt the animal. The owner subsequently sought to have the dog put down rather than continue caring for it.
The situation was intercepted before the procedure could be carried out, with animal rescue advocates stepping in to intervene. The goldendoodle has since been successfully rehomed to a new family willing to provide care for the animal.
The incident highlights ongoing concerns in Singapore regarding pet abandonment and the decision-making process when owners can no longer maintain their animals. Animal welfare groups continue to encourage owners facing such circumstances to contact rescue organisations and adoption services before considering euthanasia as an option.
