Singapore expects Indonesia to honour gas export commitments: Wong
Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has called on all parties to fulfil their contractual obligations regarding Indonesian gas exports, amid concerns over potential supply cuts affecting the region.

PM Wong stressed the importance of honouring existing agreements in relation to Indonesia's liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports, signalling Singapore's concern over the matter during recent remarks.
The comments come as Indonesia faces pressure to balance domestic energy needs with export commitments to regional partners. Singapore, which relies on imported energy resources to meet its power requirements, has long depended on stable gas supplies from neighbouring countries.
"We expect all parties to honour their commitments," Wong said, underscoring the significance of maintaining reliable energy trade relationships in Southeast Asia.
Indonesia supplies a substantial portion of Singapore's natural gas needs through long-term contracts. Any disruption to these exports could impact Singapore's energy security and industrial operations. The government has previously emphasised the importance of stable and predictable energy supplies for economic stability.
The remarks reflect Singapore's broader approach to regional energy security and its reliance on cooperative arrangements with neighbours to ensure consistent access to critical resources.
