Housing and Development Board resale prices edged down 0.1 per cent in the third quarter, according to figures released Friday, marking a retreat from earlier months even as activity in the market accelerated sharply.
Transaction volumes in the HDB resale market surged 19.5 per cent during the quarter, suggesting stronger buyer interest despite the slight pullback in valuations. The increase in deals points to a market adjusting to prevailing economic conditions while price movements remain subdued.
The private residential market performed differently, with prices rising 1.4 per cent in the same quarter. The divergence between public and private housing segments reflects shifting demand patterns across Singapore's tiered property market.
The mixed signals from both segments underscore the complexity facing Singapore's property sector as it navigates broader economic headwinds. While transaction momentum in public housing remains robust, price stability in the HDB market contrasts with modest gains seen in the private segment.
