Singapore has launched a dedicated data analytics unit within the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) aimed at identifying children at risk of abuse by cross-referencing information from multiple government agencies.
The unit, known as SAFER, will analyse data from the Singapore Police Force, Central Narcotics Bureau, and other relevant organisations to flag potential cases of child abuse at an earlier stage. By consolidating intelligence from various touchpoints, authorities aim to intervene before situations escalate to critical levels.
The initiative represents a significant step in strengthening Singapore's child protection system. It enables social workers and child protection specialists to respond more swiftly to warning signs that might otherwise go undetected in fragmented datasets.
MSF has prioritised the enhancement of child safeguarding mechanisms in recent years, recognising the importance of a coordinated, data-driven approach to prevention.
