Singapore mosque body tightens safeguards following abuse case

MUIS announced a comprehensive review of safeguarding procedures at mosques nationwide after a self-styled religious influencer was sentenced to jail and caning for the sexual abuse of two minors. The move represents an effort to prevent similar incidents and enhance the safety of children in Islamic institutions.

The review will examine existing security measures, access controls, and supervision protocols across mosque facilities. MUIS is expected to implement additional safeguards to monitor high-risk areas and restrict unsupervised access to children during religious classes and community activities.
