Singapore must reject hateful rhetoric, PM Wong urges citizens

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has urged Singaporeans to take a firm stance against hateful rhetoric and reject divisive comments that threaten social cohesion.

Addressing the issue during a recent statement, Wong stressed that Singaporeans have agency in determining how they respond to polarising views. "How we respond is up to us," he said, calling for citizens to actively refuse to give such views more space or legitimacy in public discourse.

The Prime Minister's remarks underscore the government's continued emphasis on maintaining Singapore's multicultural harmony and preventing the spread of divisive rhetoric that could undermine social stability. He encouraged Singaporeans to stand together against hate speech and reject narratives that seek to drive wedges between different communities.
