Singapore PM Wong meets Indian ministers, charts course for deeper ties

Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong met with visiting Indian ministers on Thursday to explore fresh opportunities for deepening bilateral engagement ahead of the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR).
The Indian delegation included External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada. The four-member team travelled to Singapore specifically to participate in the ministerial-level meeting.
During the bilateral discussions, Wong and the Indian ministers identified key areas for advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The conversation centred on building momentum in advanced manufacturing, digital transformation, environmental sustainability and regional connectivity initiatives.
Wong indicated that the talks reflected the strong foundation both nations have built through the ISMR framework. The leaders emphasized their shared commitment to leveraging these platforms for concrete cooperation that benefits both economies and contributes to regional stability.
The fourth ISMR commenced on Thursday, bringing together multiple sectors of government to address shared strategic priorities and explore new avenues for collaboration.
