Singapore ranks third in Malaysian traffic enforcement sweep across Johor

Malaysia's Road Transport Department (JPJ) has intensified traffic enforcement efforts in Johor state, resulting in citations issued to 1,346 foreign nationals for various driving violations during the past four months. Among those caught, Singaporean drivers represented the third-largest nationality group, with 223 individuals cited for traffic offenses.

The crackdown reflects ongoing efforts by Malaysian authorities to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws across the border state. Johor, which shares direct road links with Singapore, experiences significant daily cross-border traffic, making enforcement operations a regular feature of state road management.

Singapore's prominent ranking in the enforcement statistics underscores the volume of bilateral vehicle traffic between the two nations. The figures suggest that a substantial proportion of traffic violations in Johor involve drivers crossing from neighboring countries, with Singaporean motorists comprising a notable segment of violators.

The JPJ's four-month campaign aligns with Malaysia's broader road safety initiatives, which have targeted speeding, improper lane usage, and other dangerous driving practices. Authorities have emphasized that these enforcement operations aim to reduce traffic accidents and promote safer driving standards across state highways and urban roads.
