Singapore reaches out to citizens caught in Nepal flood disaster
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its crisis response team to assist Singaporeans affected by devastating floods in Nepal, as hundreds of foreign nationals remain unaccounted for in the aftermath of the natural disaster.

Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is in direct contact with families of Singaporeans impacted by recent flooding in Nepal, and has deployed a dedicated crisis response team to provide assistance. The move comes as Nepal's Tourism Board reported that more than 500 foreign nationals had not been reached as of August 27, raising concerns about the scale of the disaster's impact on visitors to the Himalayan nation. The floods have caused significant disruption across Nepal, affecting both residents and the large number of tourists present in the country during the peak travel season. The Singapore government has advised citizens in Nepal to exercise caution and register with the ministry's consular hotline for updates and support. Officials are working to gather information on the welfare of Singaporeans in affected areas and coordinate relief efforts where necessary.
