Singapore records modest rise in clinic visits amid haze conditions

Singapore has experienced a marginal uptick in visits to polyclinics and emergency rooms as transboundary haze affected air quality across the region, according to the Ministry of Health.

While patient numbers at primary and acute care facilities showed modest increases, the ministry stated it had not recorded any deaths attributed to haze exposure. No patients required intensive care unit admission due to haze-related conditions.

The spike in clinic attendance aligns with typical patterns observed during periods of poor air quality, when residents seek medical consultation for respiratory and other haze-related symptoms. The ministry has continued monitoring the situation and advising the public to take precautions during elevated pollution episodes.

Singapore has been coordinating with regional partners to address transboundary haze, a recurring phenomenon during certain months when agricultural burning in neighbouring countries contributes to degraded air quality in the city-state.
