Singapore's first female sniper sharpens combat skills in Australia

Singapore's first woman sniper recently participated in Exercise Wallaby, an international training exercise that brought together military personnel from multiple nations to refine their operational capabilities. The exercise provided a rigorous environment for participants to develop expertise in precision shooting, field navigation, and covert reconnaissance tactics.

During the training, snipers worked with an array of high-specification rifles including the Sako TRG-22, M110, and AX50 platform. The curriculum emphasised stalking techniques, marksmanship accuracy, and navigation skills—core competencies required for personnel operating in demanding tactical scenarios.

Exercise Wallaby represents part of the SAF's ongoing commitment to professional military development and interoperability with allied forces. The inclusion of advanced sniper training reflects the evolving nature of modern defence requirements, where precision engagement capabilities remain critical to operational effectiveness.

Participation in multinational exercises allows Singapore's military personnel to exchange expertise with international counterparts and maintain proficiency in advanced combat skills. Such training programmes are integral to building and sustaining the capabilities necessary for contemporary security challenges in the region.
