United Overseas Land (UOL), one of Singapore's leading property developers, is in talks to purchase the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, according to sources familiar with the matter. The acquisition would represent a significant move into the premium hospitality sector for the company, which has traditionally focused on residential and commercial real estate development across Asia.
The discussions involve New World Development, which holds a stake in the property, and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, a sovereign wealth fund that is also a major stakeholder. No terms or valuation details have been disclosed at this stage, and the negotiations remain preliminary.
The Hong Kong hotel represents an attractive asset in one of Asia's key commercial hubs. The Hyatt Regency brand positioning and the property's established market presence could offer UOL opportunities for operational synergies and portfolio diversification.
UOL has not made an official announcement regarding the transaction. Further developments are expected as discussions progress between the parties involved.
