Singapore's western region battles 'very unhealthy' haze overnight
Air quality in Singapore's western districts deteriorated to 'very unhealthy' levels overnight, with elevated PM2.5 readings persisting into early morning hours.

Singapore's western region faced persistent air quality challenges overnight, with the Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) remaining in the 'very unhealthy' band throughout the night. Early morning readings at 6am showed that PM2.5 concentrations across most monitoring stations in the western part of the island remained in elevated ranges, indicating sustained poor air conditions.
The sustained haze marked continued deterioration in air quality for the affected areas, with particulate matter levels remaining problematic well into the morning hours. Residents in western Singapore were advised to take precautions as fine particulate matter PM2.5—the smallest and most harmful pollutants—continued to dominate air quality measurements.
The situation underscored the region's vulnerability to transboundary haze, which periodically affects Singapore and neighbouring areas. Authorities continued monitoring air quality conditions across the island, with residents urged to limit outdoor activities and use appropriate protective equipment during periods of poor air quality.
