Singapore to expand Phase 2C primary school places from 2027
Singapore's education ministry will increase the number of Phase 2C registration places at most primary schools to 60 from 40, beginning in 2027. The move aims to provide more opportunities for students living further from their preferred schools.

Starting from the 2027 Primary One registration exercise, the majority of primary schools in Singapore will reserve 60 places during Phase 2C, up from the current allocation of 40 places, the Ministry of Education announced. Phase 2C is the registration phase that allows parents to apply for schools beyond their immediate vicinity.
The expansion is expected to benefit more families seeking primary school places for children who do not live within the vicinity of their preferred institutions. The increased allocation reflects efforts to enhance accessibility and choice in the school placement process.
Twelve schools will maintain their existing place reserves for students living further away, the ministry said. These schools will continue their current arrangements as part of the broader effort to balance demand across the education system.
The changes underscore the ministry's commitment to providing greater flexibility in primary school registration while managing capacity across the network. School leaders and parents are expected to be notified of further implementation details in due course.
