Singapore to offer incentives for flexible work job redesign
The Singapore government will provide grants and incentives to employers who restructure roles to enable flexible working arrangements. However, workers in such positions must accept variable compensation tied to their output, Acting Manpower Minister Jasmin Lau said.

The Ministry of Manpower is evaluating which sectors should pilot the flexible work policy as part of efforts to modernise Singapore's employment landscape, said Acting Minister Jasmin Lau. The initiative aims to encourage companies to redesign jobs to accommodate flexible arrangements while maintaining productivity and competitiveness. Employers who participate in the scheme will receive government support to help offset implementation costs and restructuring efforts. Workers taking on flexible roles under the new framework will need to understand that their salaries may fluctuate based on work output rather than remain fixed, Lau said. The shift represents a broader push to adapt Singapore's workforce to changing economic conditions and employee preferences for work flexibility.
