Singapore to subsidise broader HPV9 vaccine for eligible women from 2027

Singapore will expand its cervical cancer prevention programme by offering subsidised access to the HPV9 vaccine from 2027, broadening protection against human papillomavirus strains.

Women who initiated their vaccination with the two-valent (HPV2) or four-valent (HPV4) vaccine will be eligible to complete their immunisation series using the nine-valent formulation under the subsidy scheme. The nine-valent vaccine protects against nine HPV types, compared to the four types covered by HPV4 and two types by HPV2, offering enhanced protection against cervical cancer and related cancers.

The move reflects updated clinical guidance on HPV vaccination strategies and aims to maximise disease prevention outcomes for women who started vaccination under earlier programmes. The extension of subsidised access aligns with efforts to strengthen Singapore's cervical cancer prevention efforts.

Details regarding the specific eligibility criteria, implementation timeline, and subsidy levels are expected to be finalised closer to the 2027 rollout date. The health authorities will provide further guidance to healthcare providers and the public in due course.
