Singapore youth explore diverse career paths through work experience scheme

Singapore's youth employment initiatives have expanded to provide students and young people with practical workplace experience across a spectrum of industries. The programmes, which attracted more than 8,800 participants in 2025, offer participants the opportunity to shadow professionals and gain insight into day-to-day operations in their fields of interest.

Positions available to job tasters span multiple sectors, with opportunities in specialised fields such as digital forensic examination alongside roles in the events and hospitality industry. These placements are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional practice, allowing participants to assess career suitability before making longer-term educational or employment decisions.

The scheme reflects efforts by Singapore's education and workforce development authorities to equip the next generation with practical skills and industry knowledge. By enabling young people to experience various work environments firsthand, the programmes aim to support more informed career pathways and strengthen the pipeline of talent across priority sectors.
