Singareni assures mining operations pose no risk to Ramappa Temple

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a public sector undertaking under the Telangana government, has moved to allay concerns about potential damage to the historic Ramappa Temple from nearby mining activities. The company stated that it has taken comprehensive measures to ensure the ancient structure remains unaffected by its operations.

According to SCCL's position, the decision to advance with the mining project was made only after undertaking detailed scientific assessments of the impact on the surroundings. The company emphasized its commitment to environmental and heritage protection protocols before initiating any further work in the vicinity of the 13th-century temple.

Ramappa Temple, located in Telangana's Mulugu district, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2023, recognizing its architectural significance and historical importance. The temple, also known as the Rudreshwara Temple, has drawn attention from conservation groups and heritage experts regarding potential threats from industrial activities in the region.

The assurance from SCCL comes as the state government continues to balance economic development with cultural preservation. Officials indicated that mining operations would proceed in compliance with all applicable environmental and heritage protection regulations.
