Singareni pushes for road infrastructure to boost coal transport from Naini
The South Eastern Coalfields Limited has appealed to Odisha's Angul district administration for support in constructing transport corridors. The infrastructure development aims to streamline coal evacuation from mining operations in the Naini area.

The South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a major coal producer under the National Thermal Power Corporation, has sought assistance from the Angul district collector in Odisha to facilitate road construction for coal transportation. The initiative is intended to improve logistics from the Naini mining region and enhance the efficiency of coal movement to consuming units.
The state-run miner has identified the need for dedicated transport infrastructure to address bottlenecks in coal evacuation from its operations in the district. A formal request has been made to the district administration, highlighting the critical role such connectivity would play in meeting coal supply commitments and reducing transportation costs.
The move reflects ongoing efforts by SECL to strengthen its operational capabilities in Odisha, one of India's principal coal-producing regions. Road infrastructure development in mining areas has long been identified as essential for improving productivity and reducing logistical constraints that impact coal availability in the domestic market.
The district administration's cooperation on such infrastructure projects typically involves coordination on land acquisition, regulatory clearances, and construction oversight. Such initiatives have historically been pursued jointly by mining companies and state authorities to optimize resource extraction and transportation.
