Sisodia blames Kamal Nath deception for 2020 Madhya Pradesh govt collapse

Former minister Mahendra Singh Sisodia attributed the collapse of the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh to alleged deception by the chief minister and behaviour by senior party figure Jitu Patwari, according to remarks made in Bamori.

Sisodia claimed that grievances stemming from Nath's governance and Patwari's conduct prompted Jyotiraditya Scindia to engineer the government's downfall in 2020. The political upheaval saw 22 Congress MLAs resign, bringing down the government just 15 months after it took office.

The 2020 crisis marked one of Indian politics' most dramatic reversals, with Scindia later joining the Bharatiya Janata Party alongside his supporters. The episode had exposed deep factional rifts within Congress ranks in the state.

Sisodia's comments represent a significant acknowledgment of the internal discord that plagued the Congress administration, highlighting the personal and political tensions that ultimately proved fatal to its tenure in power.
