The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case of alleged donation theft at the Badrinath temple has submitted its charge sheet before a local court in Chamoli district. The investigation focuses on the misappropriation of funds collected at one of Hinduism's most sacred pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand.
Three accused have been named in the charge sheet, including Pramod Nautiyal, a suspended employee of the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). The case had triggered concerns over the security of donations at the shrine, which receives lakhs of devotees annually from across India and abroad.
The SIT's submission marks a significant development in the investigation into the alleged financial irregularities at the temple. The charge sheet details will be examined by the court as the legal proceedings move forward. The BKTC has been implementing additional measures to strengthen financial oversight at its shrines following the allegations.
The Badrinath temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu and located in the Garhwal Himalayas, is one of India's four most revered Char Dham pilgrimage destinations. The alleged theft had raised questions about the management of contributions received at the shrine.
