Sitharaman met President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at The Istana on Friday, with both officials focusing on advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore. The finance ministry said the meeting provided a platform to exchange perspectives on deepening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
In a parallel engagement, Sitharaman held discussions with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, during which the two leaders reviewed global economic conditions and strategies for managing the ongoing energy crisis. Wong noted that the finance minister shared updates on India's economic developments and emerging investment opportunities.
Sitharaman also engaged with Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan during her visit. Officials highlighted the potential for Singapore-based companies to participate in India's long-term growth trajectory, pointing to multiple sectors where joint collaboration could yield mutual benefits.
The visits underscore New Delhi's efforts to leverage its ties with the city-state, a key financial hub and strategic partner in Southeast Asia. Both nations have been strengthening economic linkages through increased trade, investment flows, and cooperation on regional issues.
