The Land Transportation Office (LTO) conducted coordinated raids on five locations in Davao City on Thursday as part of a crackdown on document fraud. The operation targeted facilities suspected of producing counterfeit vehicle license plates for illegal distribution.

LTO officials confirmed Friday that six individuals were arrested in connection with the scheme. Investigators recovered 64 fake plates during the raids, removing a significant quantity of fraudulent documents from circulation.

The seizure represents a blow to what authorities say was an organized operation designed to circumvent vehicle registration and identification systems. The fake plates could have been used to conceal vehicle identities, facilitate vehicle theft, or enable other criminal activities involving motor vehicles.

The suspects are currently in custody pending further investigation and potential charges. The LTO has intensified enforcement operations nationwide to combat the production and distribution of counterfeit license plates, which officials identify as a persistent challenge to road safety and law enforcement efforts.
