Six arrested in Kedah baby trafficking investigation involving mother
Kedah police have detained six individuals, including a biological mother, in connection with a suspected baby trafficking operation. Authorities allege the mother was paid RM8,000 to register her newborn with a childless married couple.

The arrests were made following investigations into an alleged scheme involving the illegal placement of an infant with a couple unable to have children of their own. Police say the biological mother received RM8,000 in exchange for registering the newborn in the names of the adoptive parents.
The six detainees include the biological mother, the married couple, and three other individuals believed to have facilitated the arrangement. Kedah police are continuing their investigation to establish the full extent of the suspected trafficking operation and identify any additional parties involved.
Baby trafficking cases have drawn increased scrutiny from Malaysian authorities in recent years. The alleged scheme highlights vulnerabilities in infant registration and adoption processes that criminal networks may exploit to profit from couples seeking to start families through unofficial channels.
The case will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office to determine appropriate charges. Police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to unregistered infant placements or unlicensed adoption arrangements to the nearest police station.
